Darren sat on the floor of their small apartment, Daniel’s old acoustic guitar on his lap. He winced as the strings squealed harshly from his poor attempt to play.
And it hurt! He sucked on the tips of his sore fingers again. How could Daniel play for hours on end? He made it seem so facile.
“What are you doing, Darren?”
The singer jumped. He hadn’t heard Daniel enter.
“Trying to work out this tune in my head.”
“Can I help?”
Darren smiled crookedly. “You make it look so easy. How do you do it?”
“It’s in the blood, Dare.”
