First Snow by Anya Dvorak

"No wonder you're so pale, Daz, you hang out here too much." Daniel said, smirking.
Daz rolled his eyes and shoved his hands deeper into his pockets. The snow falling from the sky was thick and heavy, yet managed to delicately float down across the beautiful Central Park scene. Everything was coated in a thick layer of snow, with barely anyone around. Daz ran quickly and then halted, letting his shoes slide him a short distant. Jonesy chuckled as the small brunette laughed. "It sounds like that's the first time you've laughed in years."
Daz's smile faltered a bit and he walked back to Jonesy. "I'm glad you've come to visit me. It feels like we haven't taken a break in a long time."
"We haven't. That's what New York is supposed to be for you. How is it up here?" Jonesy asked, draping an arm over his friends shoulder.
Daz shrugged, "Ups and downs. Its like that in every city though."
Daz wrapped an arm around Jonesy's side. "You've lost weight. Are you taking care of yourself?"
"Yeah. It's been stressful. Michelle's getting mad at me." Jonesy laughed, "I'm in the studio for too long."
"How is that?" Daz inquired, his eyes curious.
Jonesy pursed his lips and nodded, "Well I didn't think that after a serious relationship that I could still be friends with her, but we are. Its kind of like how we fell in love, but we know the limits and downfalls, so it's just friendship. The love isn't there. And that's ok."
Daz smiled and squeezed Jonesy's side, "That's beautiful to hear. I'm glad."
"Me too." Jonesy said quietly.
The two walked some more, and Jonesy stopped in front of a frozen fountain. The statue was there, with the water obviously turned off, yet some water had trinkled anyway, forming small icicles from the extended sculptures hands. Jonesy smiled and sighed, his tense shoulders relaxing. Daz gently led Jonesy to the bench, the two sitting. Daz stuck his tongue out to catch some snowflakes, his eyes brightly lit. Jonesy loved to watch Daz. This entire snow thing was a specialty. Neither of them had seen so much of it. Daz had said it was the first snow. Jonesy had spent hours watching Daz sleeping, eating, singing but his favorite was watching the man at play. Daz was positively adorable when he wasn't being watched. All of his defenses, when they were finally put to rest, uncovered this innocent uninhibited man who found joy in everything. Acting on impulse, Jonesy turned to Daz, taking his face and connecting their lips. Daz's eyes and mouth opened in surprise, but he never pulled back. Daz brought his gloved hand up and gently cupped the back of Jonesy's head. Jonesy pulled back slightly and Daz pulled closer, leaning his body against Jonesy's thin frame. Daz gently kissed the other man's chin and licked Jonesy's bottom lip. Jonesy moaned slightly and Daz smiled. He giggled and said quietly, "Jonesy, you should have told me sooner."
Jonesy pulled Daz to him, wrapping his arms around the smaller man's body.
Jonesy whispered into Daz's cold red ears, "Fear had a major part to do with it."
"You should never be afraid with me."
Jonesy gently let his tongue play absently with Daz's earlobe before responding.
"With Michelle, we may still be friends but I don't want to risk that we might not be friends."
Daz tilted his head up and met Jonesy's lips. "Never. I love you too much."
Jonesy shut his eyes and smiled. He leaned his head down into Daz's shoulder and neck. Daz smiled as he felt the warmth of Jonesy's breath. "I really do, Jonesy, I do."
Jonesy squeezed harder in response. The first snow was always a special one.
