I Knew That by Angie

Daniel pressed play and sighed as a young untamed melodic voice filled the room. His entire being began to relax. The voice had always had that affect on him. Daniel shut his eyes as he began to remember his days in a one-room flat with his best friend, Darren. His sweet voice flowed from the speaker and comforted Daniel like a mother lulling a baby to sleep.

"Jonesy!"

Daniel quickly turned off the cassette. Darren walked in the room, tight denim pants and all.

"Yea?" Daniel asked looking up.

"What were you listening to?"

"Oh, nothing." Daniel lied, "Why? What's up?"

Darren shrugged and sat down next to his companion on the couch. He sighed a little and then smiled at Daniel.

"You're a great man. You know that, right, Daniel?" Darren asked.

"Daniel? What's up, Darren? You don't call me Daniel unless something is bothering you."

Darren leaned his head onto Daniel's shoulder, "I'm just feeling a little down today, is all."

"Hmm. Well what do you want to do? Go out and eat or smething? Catch a movie?" Daniel suggested.

"Hanging out with you is just fine," Darren said as he brought his legs onto the couch.

Daniel put his arm around Darren and pulled him closer. He gently ran his long fingers through Darren's now blonde hair.

"We haven't done this in a while," Daniel spoke softly.

Darren nodded as he scooted closer to Daniel. He shut his eyes and began to drift off to sleep. Daniel began to hum quietly while Darren lay on his chest.

"Dozer?"

"Hmm?"

"How come you're feeling sad today?"

Darren stirred against Daniel's chest, "I've missed you."

"But why? We've been together for weeks now on this promo tour."

"No, I miss *you*, Jonesy. I feel like...we've drifted apart."

Daniel sighed sadly, "But I feel close to you now."

Darren nodded, "I feel it too. We should do this more. This is really cheering me up. The days are so crazy usually. We never have a chance to just...chill."

"Chill?" Daniel snickered.

"What's wrong with chill?" Darren laughed along.

Daniel shook his head, "Nothing."

Darren laid his head in Daniel's lap and stretched the rest of his body across the couch. Daniel smiled down at him. Darren took Daniel's hand in his. Daniel lived for moments like this, moments when Darren would forget about his popstar status and almost seem to be interested in Daniel.

"Dan." Darren said.

"Yea?"

"Have you ever thought about our relationship?"

"Yea, I guess." Daniel shrugged it off.

"No. I mean..as in us being more than friends."

Daniel looked down at his friend, "Sometimes."

"Really?" Darren asked squeezing Daniel's hand, "I think about it a lot. I...Dan...I'm in love with you."

Daniel smiled brightly, "Really?"

Darren sat up, his and Daniel's fingers still entwined. He pressed his lips to Daniel's and was met with no resistance. Daniel opened his mouth to Darren, letting Darren tongue find shelter. Darren sighed deeply as he kissed Daniel. He'd never felt something so intense, tasted something so sweet. He knew it'd be good, but he never expected it to be so good.

"Wow." Darren panted.

"I've been waiting for that." Daniel replied. "I love you too, Dazza."

Darren grinned and lay down on Daniel's lap again, "I knew that."
