A picture worth a thousand words, of the day they first met. They hit it off immediately, smiled and knew it was fate. An accompanying clipping from a newspaper: "Serious lead vocalist wanted for commercial musical outfit presently financed by major publishing company."
The first show, full of nerves and fear and reassurances. One at the mic and one in the background, both wrapped up in the music, giving their all.
A lazy day in the shoebox they called home, friends over to share dinner and a movie. The two sprawled on the couch and laughing at someone's joke. Pizza boxes and half-empty drinks strewn across the coffee table.
One summer afternoon at home. Freshly dyed hair sticking to sweat-damp cheeks, eyes closed and face relaxed in sleep, open book on his chest. Dog-eared Interview with the Vampire for the hundredth time.
Heading to the studio to record their first album, shaking, nervous, excited. A hastily scribbled caption: "We did it!"
Series of promotional photographs, newspaper clippings, magazine articles. A tight hug in front of their stereo, arrow pointing to it. "'I Want You' came on the radio today."
A new section begins, more clippings and promo shots. Pages of articles, headlines, photos. Captions scrawled here and there in different hands. "Climbing the charts." "Number one, baby!" "Top of the American charts - we've made it."
Candid shot from a holiday party, blonde and black heads tilted intimately together. Easy smiles and relaxed stances. Another shot from the same party, having accidentally stopped under the mistletoe and sharing a silly, friendly kiss for tradition's sake.
Concert photos of them flirting on-stage. Backstage photos, the two piled together in the dressing room, exhausted and happy, friends all around.
A set of black and white home pictures. Odd angles, blurry shots, as if taken carelessly. Some of faces, some of arms or legs or entwined hands against light sheets. Shot of two blondes smiling happily, perfectly at ease and perfectly in love.
One final picture, a promotional photo from a press kit. A smiling blonde sitting in a chair, right ankle propped on his left knee. Three words written beneath: "I miss you."
