In the Blink of an Eye by Gemma

It had been three weeks since the first night in San Francisco. Daniel found himself blinking at times, just to make sure it was all real, that Darren *was* here, lying next to him.
And then Darren would wake up and smile, and he'd have to blink again, just in case. When the kisses started, he found he didn't care if it was a dream or not, that no matter what, he always wanted to feel those lips and those hands, even if it meant staying asleep forever.
But it wasn't a dream, and they had to go outside, sooner or later. And when they did, the bright camera flashes would hurt his eyes and the yells of reporters would hurt his ears. And he'd close his eyes just for a few seconds, to remind himself why this was worth it.
Because Darren's eyes shone when he was in the spotlight, and Daniel knew it was selfish of him to keep a creature such as Darren all to himself. There were thousands of eyes who cherished the sight of him, but only Daniel's hands and eyes saw his secret places. The places he showed when they wrote together, sitting on tangled sheets, music flowing from Daniel's fingers and Darren's mouth.
It was at those times he longed for home, for the tiny flat they'd practically shared, back in the old days. But then Darren would laugh, and pounce, and he'd decide that home, really, was all relative to where Darren was.
And when they stepped back into the tiny world they made every night, they would kiss, and make love and rarely, if ever, sleep.
"That's what planes are for." Darren would grin, and he'd wrap his legs around Daniel's back. His hair would be wild and his skin flushed, arching beneath Daniel's weight.
It's then he forgets to blink.
