The Fishing Trip by LindaG
"Daniel, you said we were going out. You didn't say we were going out. Where on earth are we?"
"It's beautiful, isn't it?"
The man with the dirty blonde hair smiled beatifically, ignorant of the pout on his ash blonde companion's face.
Daniel shut off the engine, unfastened his seatbelt, and got out of the car. He closed his eyes and inhaled deeply, then let it out in a long sigh. Sunlight filtered through pine, birch, and aspen boughs as the wind greeted them with a soft breeze.
A door opened and closed behind him, his partner grumbling under his breath.
Daniel walked forward, away from the car, his gaze locked on the vision before them. A hard packed dirt area lay to the left of the dirt parking space. Grasses of both tame and wild varieties raced away from the dirt area. Bushes, shrubs, and trees spread out farther still. Within walking and viewing distance water bubbled and sparkled, drawing the long-limbed blonde toward it with its siren call. He barely registered the hurried footsteps coming up behind him as he stopped and knelt at the water's edge.
He put a hand into the clear water and brought some to his lips.
"Daniel! What are you doing!" Darren demanded, his voice cracking slightly.
"This tastes SO good. Try some!" He scooped more into his hand and offered it up to the singer.
"NO! How do you know it's safe?" Darren said worriedly.
"The people I rented this place from assure me it's safe. I paid for this whole section of park, so it's just us, peace and quiet. I thought we'd do some fishing. Relax. You wore yourself down with your touring last year. And while I love producing, I need a break, too." Daniel explained as he walked back to their SUV and began pulling things from the back.
Daniel had hurried the singer into the vehicle, and Darren suspected now that his haste had been so that he wouldn't spy all this equipment.
"What are you doing?"
"Putting our tent up."
"You expect me to sleep on--on the ground?" Darren whined in disbelief.
"No. I expect you to sleep on the pad I'm putting on the floor of the tent after I get it up." Daniel smirked at him.
Darren crossed his arms over his chest, frowning dangerously, his best pout distorting his features even more.
Daniel refused to be swayed. He finished assembling the tent and then pulled a mat from the back of the vehicle. When unfolded, it almost completely covered the floor of the tent. He pulled another bundle from the vehicle, only to toss it into the tent, then pulled the netting down over the entryway. Going back to the vehicle yet again, he pulled out two fishing poles, a small tackle box and a Styrofoam container.
"Come on, Dare. Time to catch dinner." He started off toward the water again.
"What?" Darren complained loudly.
"Shh, Daz. Not much sense in paying for quiet if all you're going to do is yell the whole time." Daniel called to the man behind him.
When he reached the water again, he placed the gear on ground, then looked around for a couple of stout branches. He found what he was looking for and brought them back to his chosen fishing spot. Darren watched him, still pouting, as he pulled his pocket knife out and reshaped the branches into "Y"s and stuck them in the ground five feet apart.
"Darren, stop looking at me like that. You should love this! Come on, nature boy. Mr. I want to live like animals. You know you'll enjoy it if you give it half a chance."
He smiled and handed Darren one of the fishing poles.
"Danny, I don't know how to fish."
"It's easy, I'll show you."
"How do you know? You don't live here."
"It's not that much different from saltwater fishing, Daz. And the people I rented the campsite from were very helpful. Here." He handed Darren a very lively nightcrawler, which the singer promptly dropped with a squeal.
"That's alive! And--and slimy!"
Daniel laughed, a deep, hearty laugh. Then he baited his own hook, drew the pole back over his shoulder and listened with a satisfied sigh to the light 'zzzz' as the line carried out over the water to plop softly in. He let the line settle for a bit, then closed the bail and set his pole into the notch of the branch.
"Danny, I still have slime on my hand." Darren whined.
"Wipe it on your pants."
"WHAT!"
"Darren. It's just a little dirt. Like animals, remember?"
Daniel then baited Darren's pole for him. "Do you want to cast it out?"
"No. You go ahead."
The taller man smiled indulgently and did as told.
"So. What now?" The shorter man asked, somewhat mollified.
"Well, if we get a bite, the bobbers out there will bounce. Maybe go under. We check the lines after a bit. Replace the bait if we need to. Maybe try another spot."
"What will we catch?"
"Some type of trout. There's a cook stove in the back of the car. And some spices, too. They told me how to fix the fish. Sounds really good, Daz. I brought some honey wheat bread along. And we've a cooler or two as well." Daniel answered before lowering his lanky frame to the ground.
He lay down under an aspen tree and sighed again.
"This is boring, Daniel." Darren spoke up barely a minute later.
"Yeah, it is, isn't it." The younger man agreed, a smile on his face and in his voice. His eyes were closed. He'd unbuttoned his shirt and his hands were clasped under his head.
"How will you know if you get a bite if you don't watch your line, Daniel?"
The guitarist opened one eye to squint at his friend. "First, it's probably too soon. Second, I figure you can watch them both." He closed his eyes again, his smile dreamy as the slightly cool wind blew gently over his smooth chest in contrast to the warming sun.
"Should we check the lines now?"
"Not yet, Daz."
A few minutes passed. Small scuffling sounds reached Daniel's ears.
"You think we should check them now?"
"No, Daz."
He heard the singer's footfalls die away as the older man walked off toward the campsite. He heard a door open, then close, and the sound of said man walking back again.
"What about now? Should we check them now?"
"No, Daz," he sighed. "It's too soon. Have you been watching them at all?"
"Couldn't see them. Had to get my sunglasses."
"Okay."
"So, should we check them now?"
"Daz, what part of 'it's too soon' did you not understand?"
"Danny! Danny! Your pole!" Darren shouted, bouncing on his feet.
Daniel squinted one eye open again, then jumped to his feet and grabbed his pole, which was bobbing madly toward the water. Daniel grabbed the rod and yanked up to set the hook.
The pole danced madly. Behind him, Darren squealed and bounced around him. For just a moment the fish jumped out of the water, only to cut back under again. Daniel moved closer to the shore, ready to bring the fish out when it tired. It looked to be about three pounds. A very nice fish, from what he'd been told.
"Danny! Did you see that! It's huge! Bring it in! Bring it in!"
Daniel played the fish a bit longer, slowly bringing it closer.
"Oh! Let me see! Let me see it, Danny!"
Darren meant to step beside Daniel, but his foot slipped and he hit the guitarist mid back.
"Wha--?"
Daniel was knocked forward. His foot slipped in the slightly softer sand at the river's edge and with Darren's weight pressing against him, he fell forward into the water.
"Oops." Darren said as he pushed himself to his feet.
Daniel pushed up on his arms, sputtering as he raised his head out of the water.
"Ahh... sorry about that, Danny." The singer apologized nervously.
Daniel shook the water from his head as he slowly sat back on his heels. He still had hold of the rod. He tested it. Limp.
Slowly he turned his head toward the older man, who took a step backward.
"I'm really sorry about that, Danny."
Daniel stood up and stalked slowly from the water. Darren couldn't help but stare at the water that shimmered on the guitarist's smooth, lean chest. He took another step back when Daniel dropped the pole loosely to the ground.
"Danny." The singer's voice rose threateningly. "Daniel Jones. It was an accident. I said I was sorry."
Daniel leaped just then. Darren shrieked, turned, and ran for the car. Daniel tackled him before he got three steps. The shorter man hit the ground with a "woof" as the air was pushed from his lungs. Then Daniel was crawling up his body as he squirmed.
"Danny! Danny! Get off me!" He tried to push up, but couldn't get the right leverage with Daniel sitting on his back. He shook his head as water dripped down on him.
When Daniel began to tickle Darren, the older man struggled wildly.
"Stop! Danny! Stop!"
He finally managed to overbalance the taller but lighter man and ended up spread-eagled over Daniel's lanky frame, pinning the dangerous hands over the younger man's head.
The light in Daniel's eyes changed as Darren's face poised inches above his. They had been mischievously bright, but they began to darken. Both men were breathing a bit heavily and it slowly dawned on Darren that it might be from more than their exertions.
"I told you..." He gasped out softly. "I was sorry."
He took his eyes from Daniel's to study the way the water still clung somewhat to Daniel's smooth skin. The way it pooled just a bit in the dip of his throat. He stuck his tongue out to taste the water, but he didn't release his grip on Daniel's wrists. The man seemed to have given in, but Darren didn't trust him for a minute.
'Well, I do, but not right now.'
The wetness tasted quite like Daniel. The younger man moaned softly. Darren licked again and nipped gently at the skin below Daniel's Adam's apple. He saw the green eyes close as the younger man swallowed noisily.
‘Now this is more like it.' He ground his crotch roughly against Daniel's and was rewarded with a deep moan. He continued to lick, nip, and suck the soft flesh of the long neck, still keeping a firm hold on the wrists in his grasp.
Daniel's chest arched under him. He scooted down a bit, moving his lower half so he could grind his cock against Daniel's thigh, his motions returning the favor for the guitarist. He could feel the younger man's hardness pressed against his leg. He lowered his head again and began teasing one of Daniel's nipples. Soon the sleek chest was shining again. Darren couldn't get enough of the taste of Daniel.
The taller man began writhing frantically under Darren's body, moaning and whimpering. Darren dug his right foot into the ground and pushed himself back up a bit. Just enough to capture Daniel's lips in a searing kiss.
Tongues caressed and dueled frantically.
Finally they broke apart, both men gasping and looking into each other's lust-darkened eyes. Darren thrust his hips against Daniel's again and the younger man groaned.
"Darren... please..." He gasped meekly.
"You'd better behave." Darren growled, grinding against Daniel's hard cock again, his earlier petulance and childishness replaced by a lustful desire that had grown to dominate them both.
Daniel nodded anxiously. Darren slowly released his wrists then sat back, his weight partly on Daniel's leg, partly on his own heels. He pulled his shirt over his head, smiling slightly as he noticed Daniel watching the ripple of his muscles. He stood up then and kicked off his shoes, then quickly released and pushed down his pants and boxers, pushing his socks off as he pulled his feet free.
"NO!" He ordered when he saw the younger man reach for his own pants. Daniel shivered noticeably as he complied with Darren's command.
Darren stood over the younger man. He enjoyed what he saw. Daniel's chest rose and fell excitedly. The green grass caressed his tan skin, his shirt having fallen off at the shoreline.
"Cross your hands over your head."
Daniel's eyes darkened more as he complied. Darren tied his pants around Daniel's wrists, having nothing better. He knew it wasn't perfect, but it was the symbolism. The feel of the material that provided necessary satisfaction.
He knelt in the grass, between Daniel's legs. He enjoyed the feel of the grass on his skin, even though it tickled slightly. Then he bent over and buried his face in the crotch of Daniel's pants, pressing firmly and inhaling noisily.
Daniel groaned and trembled.
"You were right, Daniel. A very nice idea. Like animals." Desire dripped from the last two words as his gaze captured Daniel's again.
He unbuttoned the younger man's jeans then, pulling them down just enough to reveal the boxers underneath. Darren lowered his head, again pressing his face to Daniel's groin, enjoying the feel of the twitching hardness. Smiling as the hips writhed sensually. He opened his mouth, turned his head just a little and carefully pressed his teeth against the hard flesh.
The guitarist arched again, his head thrashing side to side.
"Darren... please..." He begged.
Darren grasped the waistband of the boxers and yanked, roughly freeing Daniel's cock to be caressed by the breeze. The younger man moaned deeply. Darren stood up and watched as Daniel's dark eyes looked at him questioningly.
"Don't move," his voice was rough as he turned and walked to the water to retrieve Daniel's shirt. He rinsed it in the water, getting as much sand out of it as possible, then he carried it back and wrung it out over his prone lover's form.
The guitarist gasped as the cold water splashed onto his heated skin. Darren's eyes flashed darker still. He loved the way the sunlight glittered from his lover's wet skin. He slowly lowered himself over Daniel again, his arms to either side of the younger man's chest. He began teasing the moist nipples that stood proudly erect, slowly rocking his hips against Daniel's. The guitarist squirmed beneath him, his own hips adding to the friction of their cocks against each other. Their thrusts became harder, more frantic, as Darren's full lips roughly captured Daniel's again.
Both men groaned and moaned as their movements grew desperate. Darren released Daniel's swollen lips and arched his back, crying out loudly as his passion spilled between them.
Somewhere in his hazed mind he realized Daniel hadn't come yet. He thrust his hips as he lowered his head and firmly but carefully bit Daniel's shoulder.
Daniel screamed out Darren's name and shuddered violently as his passion mixed with Darren's between them. He collapsed onto the ground, gasping heavily. Darren pulled Daniel to him and licked the sweaty skin of the younger man's neck.
He ran his tongue along Daniel's jaw but didn't have the energy to tease him further. Instead his head fell tiredly into the crook of Daniel's shoulder.
Daniel worked his hands free of the denim restraint and slowly wrapped his arms around the singer's body, pulling him as close as his tired arms would allow.
"They say... fresh air... makes everything... more vivid..."
He felt the singer's body shake against him as the older man chuckled silently.
"I'd forgotten what you were like outdoors..." Daniel's second wind had come to him now, and he urged the older man to look at him.
Darren slowly raised his head to look at his former musical partner, but always the love of his heart.
Their eyes shone with that same love for each other. Daniel pulled his head down for another kiss. Much more tender this time.
"Think we'll scare dinner away if we wash up?"
Darren was shaken by Daniel's deep laugh.
"Maybe, maybe not. What say we find out?"
