Darren came into the room silently, taking in the beautiful picture before his eyes. The curtains were closed, but the light of a few large candles illuminated the room in a soft, warm glow.

Daniel was sitting at the black grand piano, playing slowly a melody Darren at once recognised. And he was singing. Softly, with the rich, deep voice that Darren loved so much.

"So many nights, I'd sit by my window,
Waiting for someone to sing me his song
So many dreams, I kept deep inside me,
Alone in the dark, but now you've come along..."

Daniel looked up, smiled. Made a little gesture with his head, inviting Darren to sit by his side.

Darren slid on the small bench. Put one arm around Daniel's slim waist.

"And you, you light up my life,
You give me hope, to carry on.
You light up my days
And fill my nights with song..."

Darren rested his head on Daniel's shoulder, closed his eyes. Why can't life always be this peaceful, he thought...

"Rollin' at sea, adrift on the waters
Could it be finally, I'm turning for home
Finally a chance to say, "Hey, I love you"
Never again to be all alone"

For the last chorus Darren joined Daniel's voice, sang with him.

"And you, you light up my life,
You give me hope, to carry on.
You light up my days
And fill my nights with song
It can't be wrong, when it feels so right...

'Cause you... You light up my life..."

Daniel finished the song playing a final chord. He turned his head, looked tenderly into Darren's deep blue eyes. Bent forward and planted a soft kiss on his forehead.

"...and every word is true..." He whispered.
